DJI avata 2 after 6 months ? my actual thoughts (not a review video)

figured id post this since when i was researching the avata 2 before buying i couldnt find much from regular people, just youtube guys who got their units early and were clearly being careful about what they said. anyway ive had mine since the launch basically and here's where im at.

the good stuff first ? image quality is genuinely impressive for an fpv drone in this size. the goggles 3 integration is smooth and the motion controller is actually usable now unlike the first avata where i felt like i was fighting it half the time. flying through trees and doing low passes feels incredible and the footage looks cinematic with pretty minimal effort compared to what i was doing with a freestyle build.

the less good stuff ? its still pretty locked down in terms of what you can do with it. if you come from building your own quads the flight characteristics feel a bit sanitized. also had one incident where it just kind of drifted into a bush in a light wind situation, no damage but it was weird and i couldnt reproduce it. battery life is what it is, you kind of accept that going in.

overall id say its a solid product if you want accessible fpv with good image quality and dont mind paying the DJI tax. probably wouldnt recommend it to someone who wants to get into real fpv flying because it might actually make that transition harder not easier.

the drift thing you mentioned ? did you have any interference around? i ask because mine did something similar once near some powerlines and i always assumed that was the cause but never confirmed it. kind of unsettling either way.

this is a fair writeup. i think the "DJI tax" comment is worth expanding on a bit though because the total cost when you factor in goggles and controller is pretty steep compared to putting together a whoop or even a 3inch freestyle setup. youre paying a lot for convenience and the polish which is totally valid if thats what you want but if someone reading this is trying to actually learn fpv skills id agree with your point that it might not be the best starting point. the manual mode on it is fine but its not the same as really flying manual on a proper tune.
