mini 4 pro vs air 3 ? which one would you actually buy again

  • Members

okay so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i need someone to just help me make a decision. i currently fly a mini 2 and i want to upgrade, my main use is travel and some landscape stuff, nothing commercial. i dont need the longest range ever but id love better low light and obstacle avoidance that actually works.

ive watched probably every youtube video about these two and they all say different things depending on who made the video and what they were paid to say lol. from what i can tell the air 3 has better sensors and the dual camera setup is genuinely useful but its heavier so i lose the under-250g thing which matters to me when im traveling internationally. the mini 4 pro does have omnidirectional avoidance now which was the big complaint about the mini 3 pro so that feels like a big deal.

anyone here actually own or has owned both? or even just one of them and has strong feelings about it? genuinely just want to hear from people who fly these things and not a scripted review

had the mini 4 pro since launch and honestly for travel its hard to beat. the under 250g thing is real ? flew through three countries last summer and it made registration stuff so much easier. low light is way better than the mini 2, like genuinely surprised me how much dji improved it. the obstacle avoidance works but i wouldnt trust it completely in dense forest or anything tight, its more of a last resort thing than something you fly into confidently.

never owned the air 3 personally but a buddy of mine has one and the medium tele camera is the thing i actually miss. theres moments where you want that 3x equivalent and on the mini 4 pro youre just cropping which isnt ideal. if you really care about image quality and dont mind dealing with registration in some places the air 3 probably edges it out. but for pure travel ease? mini 4 pro all day

i went air 3 and dont regret it but im also not going to places where the weight thing is a huge issue. the dual camera setup really does change how you think about shots, like you stop flying closer and start actually composing differently. low light is genuinely impressive compared to what i was flying before (phantom 4 pro, very different era lol).

one thing nobody really talks about in reviews is how the air 3 handles wind ? it feels really planted compared to lighter drones. mini 4 pro in gusty conditions can get a bit twitchy from what ive seen. anyway thats my two cents, both are great honestly and youre not going to be upset with either one
