I've been flying my Mavic Air 2 for a few months now and keep going back and forth on accessories. Landing pads protect your drone during takeoffs and landings on uneven surfaces, shielding from rocks and debris but they're another thing to carry around.

On the other hand, I see a lot of people swear by leg extensions for keeping the drone above grass and dirt. Some pilots use "Spidy legs" to keep the drone off the ground and above weeds.

For those who've tried both - which do you actually find more useful in real-world flying? I do a lot of hiking and want something that's practical to carry.

The Mavic Pro is much lower to the ground than Phantoms, so tall grass and rocks can interfere with props and cause damage. I carry both honestly - a foldable landing pad for questionable surfaces and permanent leg extensions for everyday flying. The extensions are always there when you need them.

Leg extensions all the way! I got a 32" collapsible landing pad and carry it everywhere - it even comes with spikes to secure it from blowing away. But honestly, I forget to bring it out half the time. The leg extensions just stay on and you never have to think about them.

I'm team landing pad for hiking! Yes it's extra gear, but after folding, the extra-large pad shrinks to just 11 inches and features a double-color design that makes your drone easy to identify from the air. Plus you can land anywhere without worrying about damaging those expensive motors.
