so ive been flying freestyle for like 6 months now and my split s and dives look decent but every time i try to do a roll it just looks sloppy and slow, like the quad kind of wobbles at the end before it levels out. im on a 5 inch running betaflight 4.4 and i've messed with the rates a bunch but cant figure out if its a tune issue or just me being bad at the sticks. probably both honestly. anyone dealt with this

almost definitely your rates are too low on roll axis, a lot of people set their center sensitivity too conservative when they start out and then wonder why tricks feel mushy. try bumping your rc rate up a bit and see if it snaps better. also check your d term isnt fighting you, had the same issue on my build last year and just lowering D a few clicks cleaned it up way more than touching rates did

honestly it took me way longer than 6 months before my rolls looked clean so dont stress too much. i just kept flying the same spot over and over doing only rolls until my muscle memory caught up with what i was trying to do. tune helps but at some point its just hours on the sticks
