Mini 4 Pro firmware update bricked my obstacle avoidance or am i missing something

  • Members

okay so this has been bugging me for about a week and im at the point where im just going to post about it. updated to the latest firmware last tuesday, pretty sure it was.0700 or whatever the recent one is, and ever since then my APAS just feels completely different. like it used to smoothly route around stuff and now it either stops dead and hovers or it just turns off obstacle sensing mid flight and i get that warning in the app.

flying in the same spots ive flown a hundred times, nothing changed on my end. i tried recalibrating the sensors, did the whole imu and compass thing, still the same behavior. RC2 controller if that matters.

checked the dji forum and theres a couple people saying similar things but no official response yet. is this a known thing or did i somehow mess up my unit. kind of stressed about it because i have a shoot this weekend and i dont really want to roll back firmware if i can avoid it but also dont want my drone stopping every 10 feet because it thinks a tree branch is a wall

yeah ive seen a few people mention this. pretty sure its the firmware, not your unit. dji tweaked something with the APAS sensitivity thresholds in one of the recent updates, supposedly to reduce fly-aways in dense environments but the tradeoff is it gets jumpy in situations it used to handle fine. annoying tradeoff honestly.

if your shoot is this weekend i would genuinely just roll back. the process isnt that bad, dji assistant 2 lets you do it and there are step by step posts on here from a few months ago when people were doing the same thing after a different update caused gimbal weirdness. back up your profiles first obviously

this is why i wait like 3 weeks before updating anything. let other people find the bugs first lol. not helpful i know but seriously the update anxiety is real, had a mavic 3 update once that messed with my color profiles and i was editing footage for two weeks wondering why everything looked slightly wrong before i figured it out
