Air 3 vs Air 3S ? is the upgrade actually worth it for casual weekend flying

  • Members

so ive been flying my Air 3 for about 8 months now and honestly love it, no real complaints. but then i got to play around with my buddy's Air 3S at the park last weekend and now im kind of second guessing myself lol

the low light stuff on the 3S is genuinely impressive, i wont lie. we were shooting at golden hour going into dusk and the footage just looked... cleaner? less grainy even when we pushed the shadows in post. but then again i mostly fly on sunny weekends and vacation trips so im not sure that matters for my use case

the price jump is pretty significant too. thinking about selling the Air 3 but i know ill take a hit on resale. anyone here actually made that jump and either regretted it or felt like it was obviously the right call? not looking for spec comparisons i can google that, just want to hear from people who actually fly both

made basically the same jump a few months back. honestly if you're a sunny weekend flyer the Air 3 is probably fine and i say that as someone who now owns the 3S. the sensor upgrade matters way more than i expected but only in specific situations. indoor real estate shots, late afternoon stuff, anything in shade ? yeah the difference is real. but bright midday sun? not gonna lie you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart in final edited footage.

resale on the Air 3 isnt as bad as i feared, got decent money for mine if you sell the full fly more combo. the RC2 controller alone helps the listing. just depends if that low light difference is worth like 400-500 bucks net cost to you after selling yours.

i have the 3S and its my first drone so i cant really compare but the low light thing is legit, took it out camping and got some shots at dusk that looked way better than i expected. probably not helpful since i dont know what the Air 3 footage looks like side by side haha
