so anyway i finally got the new FC installed and everything binds fine, motors spin up, no issues in betaflight on the bench. but in the air it just feels... wrong. hard to explain but its like the quad is slightly behind where i expect it to be, and there's this weird mushy feeling on quick direction changes that wasnt there before.

i copied my diff all from the old FC and pasted it into the new one so the rates should be identical. running RPM filter with bidirectional dshot, same ESC, same motors. the only thing that actually changed is the FC itself ? went from a Matek H743 to a Speedybee F405 Wing... wait no the quad one, the F405 V4 mini.

i did notice the gyro is different between the boards. old one had the ICM42688P and i think the new one has the MPU6000. could that actually cause this kind of feel difference or am i imagining things

yeah the gyro difference is real and its not just in your head. the ICM42688P runs at a higher gyro update rate and a lot of people find it just feels snappier and more precise, especially with RPM filter. the MPU6000 is a fine gyro and its been around forever but going from a 42688 to a 6000 you will notice a difference in feel, most people describe it exactly how you did ? slightly mushy or laggy.

few things to try: make sure your gyro and pid loop rates are set correctly for the MPU6000, i think it maxes at 8k/8k but double check that in betaflight. also your filter settings might need tweaking ? the 42688 handles filtering a bit differently so a direct copy of your diff isnt always going to translate perfectly. id start by slightly reducing your D term lowpass filter frequency and see if that tightens things up. you might also want to re-run the RPM filter with motors actually warm, sometimes the notch placement shifts a bit with a new gyro.

this is why i refuse to leave the H743 ecosystem lol, once you get dialed in on a board swapping anything feels like starting over

but seriously the gyro thing is legit, my buddy had almost the exact same issue going the other direction actually and it took him a while to realize the filter settings just didnt carry over cleanly. worth spending an hour with the blackbox and actually looking at your gyro traces before chasing your tail in the configurator
