DJI fly app updated and now my footage looks weird in post

  • Members

not sure if this is a firmware thing or the app but ever since i updated DJI fly a few weeks ago my d-log m footage is coming out way more washed out than usual when i pull it into resolve. like i have my usual node setup that ive been using for months and everything looks off now. whites are blowing and the shadows are muddier than they should be.

i checked and the color profile on the drone itself is still set to d-log m, nothing changed on my end. someone in another group mentioned the latest update might have tweaked how the log profile is being baked but i cant find anything official from DJI confirming that. anyone else noticing this or am i just losing my mind. using an air 3 btw

saw a few people mentioning this on the DJI forum too but no official response yet which is typical. my guess is they quietly adjusted something in the tone mapping or the LUT they apply even in log mode, wouldnt be the first time. try pulling one of your old clips from before the update into the same resolve project and see if it matches ? if it doesnt then yeah something changed on the encoding side not your grade.

honestly i always keep a backup of the previous firmware version zipped somewhere just for this reason. DJI is pretty good but they do occasionally just... change stuff without telling anyone

this might be a dumb question but did you check if the app updated the color science version or whatever they call it in the camera settings menu? i remember on my mini 3 there was a setting that got reset after an update and my colors were all messed up for like a week before i figured it out. probably not the same thing but worth checking
