Inspire 1 video transmission dropping out mid-flight - contact pin issue?

  • Members

Getting intermittent video signal loss on my Inspire 1 Pro during flights, even at close range (50m). If you fly a DJI Inspire 1 and are experiencing intermittent loss of your video signal and you've ruled out that it is not a tablet or an App issue, it could be a simple mechanical problem of contact pin(s) being compressed in. This can occur from the constant removal of the gimbal from the Inspire 1 for travel or storage, etc. The video feed is perfect on the ground with motors running, but cuts to black screens once airborne. Has anyone successfully fixed the gimbal contact issue?

Don't touch the aircraft pins! Loosen the two Phillips screws holding the gimbal plate by 2 turns to raise the contact on the plate! This should allow better electrical contact and fix the occasional video signal loss. This fixed mine completely - been flying without dropouts for months now.

Before you start with hardware fixes, try switching your video transmission to manual channel selection. On the Pilot controller - DJI Go - Open HD and take your channels off of AUTO and set it to CUSTOM something seldom used, like 20. On the Pilot controller - DJI Go - Open HD and set FPS (frames per second) to 50hz Since I made these changes I have not had one dropout, black screen, jagged video.

Could also be your tablet/device. I tried flying the Inspire the other day (with the regular DJI Go app) and I kept losing video image in flight... My iPad mini is an older generation so I figured after all that wasted time that the issue wasn't with my drone or the firmware but the iPad because the OS was old and cannot be updated. What device are you running?
