EVO Nano+ worth it or just get the Mini 3?

  • Members

so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i cant make up my mind. basically i want something small that i can take hiking and maybe some light travel, nothing too serious. i had a Mavic Mini 2 before but sold it and now i kind of regret that lol

the Nano+ keeps catching my eye because the obstacle avoidance on something that small seems actually useful, and the image quality looks really solid from what ive seen on youtube. but then everyone online seems to just default to recommending DJI for everything and im not sure if thats genuine or just because theres way more DJI content out there

anyone actually own the Nano+ and fly it regularly? like real world use not just spec comparisons. does the app hold up? thats kind of my main concern with Autel, ive heard the software can be a little rough around the edges

I've had the Nano+ for about eight months now and honestly it's a really solid little drone. The image quality genuinely surprised me, the colors out of camera are a bit warm but I actually prefer that to DJI's sometimes clinical look. The app has gotten a lot better with updates ? early on it was a bit clunky but they've been pushing fixes pretty regularly.

The one thing I'll say is the obstacle avoidance is more of a comfort feature than something you'd rely on completely. It's there and it works but it's not as refined as what you'd get on a higher end drone. For hiking and travel though it does exactly what you'd want. Wind resistance is decent too, held up fine in some gusty conditions up in the mountains.

The DJI bias online is real, just more people have them so more content. Doesn't mean Autel is worse, just different. I'd say try it, return policy from most places is reasonable if you hate it.

cant really speak to the Nano specifically but i switched from DJI to Autel on the EVO II side of things and the main thing nobody talks about is customer support ? Autel's is actually pretty responsive compared to my experiences with DJI which felt like shouting into a void. just something to factor in if you ever have an issue
