ok so this happened yesterday and i'm still kinda shaken. was out at this reservoir near my house doing a really simple POI orbit on my Air 3S, maybe 80 meters out and like 40 meters up, nothing crazy. all of a sudden the signal just dropped completely, RC2 screen went grey and showed that disconnected icon. i know the drone is supposed to return to home if it loses signal but in the moment your brain just goes blank you know

i stood there for probably 45 seconds doing absolutely nothing useful before the signal came back on its own and the drone was totally fine just sitting there hovering. never actually triggered RTH. i think there was some interference from the power lines running along the edge of the reservoir but im not 100% sure

anyway it made me realize i never actually tested my RTH settings properly. i have it set to return at like 30 meters which is definitely too low given all the trees around there. gonna go fix that today. anyone else had random signal drops like this in otherwise open areas? feels weird because ive flown in way more sketchy spots without issues

power lines will do that, yeah. the interference can be really unpredictable depending on the load they're carrying at the time. ive had similar drops near a substation once. good call on checking your RTH altitude, 30 meters is way too low if you've got any trees around, i keep mine at 80 just to be safe even if it feels excessive.

also worth double checking that your home point refreshed when you took off ? sometimes if you take off quick it locks in before GPS is fully accurate and your RTH point ends up being a few meters off from where you're actually standing. probably fine in an open area but good habit to check

the first time signal dropped on me i literally ran toward where i thought the drone was which is. not the move. it came back fine but yeah that frozen feeling is real. glad yours was ok. i now always do a quick hover test close in before i go anywhere far just to make sure the link is solid before i commit to anything automated
