been dealing with this for like three weeks now and its driving me insane. im running a rush tank solo 5.8ghz vtx on my 5inch freestyle build, set to 400mw, and every once in a while ill get this sudden video dropout that lasts maybe half a second to a full second then comes back. doesnt seem to happen at any particular distance, ive had it happen 20 feet away from me and also at like 200 meters so its not range related i dont think.

antennas are a lollipop on the quad and my goggles are fatshark HDO2 with the stock antennas which i know are not great. ive already reseated the antenna connector on the vtx twice because i read that can cause issues but still getting the dropouts. also the vtx does get pretty warm, not sure if thats normal or if thats part of the problem. anyone dealt with this before

the heat thing is worth paying attention to ? rush vtx's are known to thermal throttle if they dont have good airflow, especially the tank solo at 400mw. try mounting it somewhere it gets prop wash or add a small heatsink, some people even put a tiny 5v fan on them which sounds overkill but actually works. also check if your FC is maybe browning out and resetting the vtx, sometimes what looks like a video issue is actually the whole stack momentarily losing power under throttle. worth checking your capacitor situation on the battery leads if you havent already.

swap the stock fatshark antennas first, those things are genuinely terrible and i dont know why they still include them. even a cheap set of pagodas or a lollipop/pagoda combo will be noticeably more stable. stock patch + omni on the goggles would be even better if you can. might not fully explain the dropouts youre describing but its a variable worth eliminating before you start suspecting the vtx itself
