so ive been using litchi for like 3 years now mostly for automated waypoint stuff around construction sites and it works fine but a coworker keeps telling me dronelink is way better for more complex mission logic. i finally tried the trial version last week and honestly the interface feels a bit overwhelming at first, like theres a lot going on. but i can see why people like it once you dig in.

main thing im wondering is the waypoint altitude handling ? litchi has always frustrated me when im flying in terrain that changes elevation because you have to manually adjust each point if you want it to stay at a consistent height above ground. does dronelink handle this better or am i just gonna run into different annoying limitations? also does anyone know if the offline mode actually works reliably now, i was reading some posts from like a year ago saying it was flaky but that might be outdated info.

yeah dronelink does terrain following way better than litchi, thats pretty much the main reason i switched honestly. you set your AGL and it pulls elevation data and adjusts automatically, works pretty well as long as you have the mission cached before you go somewhere without signal. the offline stuff has been solid for me for the past 6 months or so, i think they fixed most of the issues people were complaining about. only caveat is the terrain data resolution isnt perfect in really rural areas, ive had a couple spots where it was off by more than id like.

mini 3 pro support is good, no issues there. the learning curve is real though, took me probably a week of just messing around before i felt comfortable building missions from scratch.

i actually use both depending on what im doing lol. litchi for simple stuff where i just need a clean orbit or basic waypoint run because its just faster to set up. dronelink when the job actually needs proper terrain following or if i need to do something more conditional. paying for two subscriptions is annoying but at this point its just a cost of doing business i guess. cant really go back to doing everything manually after getting used to automated missions
