DJI pushed another firmware update and now my RTH altitude reset itself

  • Members

this has happened before and it still drives me absolutely insane. updated the mini 4 pro firmware two days ago through the DJI fly app, routine stuff, and then went out yesterday for a shoot and at some point realized my RTH altitude had dropped back down to the default 30 meters. im in an area with a lot of trees and powerlines and i had it set to 80 for a reason.

checked my other settings and looks like a couple other things got nudged too, my max altitude limit was different and i think the low battery warning threshold changed. didnt notice until i was already out in the field which is not a great feeling. i know i should do a full settings check after every update but i always forget and then this happens.

anyway just a heads up if anyone else updated recently, go through your safety settings before you fly. i should probably write myself a physical checklist at this point instead of relying on muscle memory

ugh yes this is a known thing and its been happening forever with DJI updates. i screenshot all my settings before any update now, takes like two minutes and has saved me multiple times. not a perfect solution but at least i have something to reference. the RTH altitude one is the dangerous one obviously, the other stuff is annoying but that one actually matters

wait so the firmware update just wipes your custom settings? i just got my first drone like a month ago and i had no idea this was a thing. i havent updated since i first set everything up because i was scared of breaking something and now im kind of glad i waited. is there any way to backup your settings properly or do you just have to manually redo them every time? feels like thats something the app should handle automatically
