so ive been putting this off forever but i finally scheduled my part 107 test for next month and im kind of freaking out a little. i bought the prepware app and went through a few practice tests but im consistently getting wrecked on the airspace questions. like i understand the basic concept of class B and C but when they show you those sectional charts and ask you to figure out the ceiling of a shelf or whatever its just not clicking for me.

i did watch most of the tony northrup videos on youtube which helped a lot with the weather stuff honestly. but the sectional chart reading feels like learning a whole new language. does anyone have a specific resource they used that helped with that part or should i just keep hammering practice tests until it sticks? also how much of the actual test is weather vs airspace stuff, i feel like i should be prioritizing but i dont know what the breakdown looks like

the sectional chart stuff really does just take repetition unfortunately. what helped me was finding a random chart on skyvector and just spending like 20-30 minutes a day zooming around and quizzing myself on random airports and airspace boundaries. after about two weeks it started feeling way more natural. the prepware explanations are decent but sometimes reading the actual FAA sectional chart users guide clears things up better because it explains the why behind the symbology.

as for the breakdown, from what i remember airspace and chart reading felt like maybe 30-40% of the questions, weather was significant too, maybe 20 or so percent. loads of people get tripped up on the loading and performance calculations but honestly those arent that hard once you practice a couple. dont neglect the regulations sections either, some of those questions are pretty specific and you cant really guess your way through them.

i took mine like 8 months ago and passed first try, the biggest thing for me was just doing practice tests over and over and reading every single explanation even for questions i got right. some of the wrong answer choices are deliberately tricky and knowing WHY theyre wrong matters a lot. the actual test felt harder than prepware to me honestly, like more situational. good luck tho
