so ive been flying my mini 3 pro for about 8 months now and just been chucking it in a backpack with the foam insert which... has worked fine honestly but im starting to do longer trips and want something a bit more proper. went down a rabbit hole on amazon last night and there are like 400 options and i genuinely cant tell which ones are worth it and which are just rebranded garbage with nice photos.

main thing i care about is it fitting with the RC controller, a couple of extra batteries and maybe some nd filters without being a massive suitcase. bonus if it doesnt scream DRONE EQUIPMENT to anyone who might want to steal it. does anyone have something they actually love or at least like enough to keep using?

i went through like three cases before settling on the Smatree hard case and honestly its been solid. fits the rc2 controller, 3 batteries and my whole filter set without too much fiddling. only thing is the foam cutouts aren't perfect out of the box for the mini 3 specifically so i did a bit of trimming with a bread knife which sounds sketchy but worked fine. it doesnt look too fancy on the outside either, just kind of a generic grey box thing.

the one mistake i made early on was buying a case that was TOO padded and airtight ? condensation became a problem when going from cold air to warm indoors. worth thinking about if you're traveling to places with big temp swings.

not a case but i actually just use a padded camera cube inside a regular hiking backpack and it works relly well. way less suspicious looking and i can pack other stuff around it. might not be what youre looking for if you want something more protective but for normal travel its been fine for me
