flying in Iceland next month, anyone done it?

so im heading to Iceland in like 5 weeks and obviously bringing the Air 3 because how could you not. but ive been reading conflicting stuff about the rules there and honestly its giving me a headache. some sites say you need to register, some say under 250g is fine, some say national parks are all no-fly... i dont know what to actually believe at this point

has anyone actually flown there recently and knows whats current? specifically around the south coast, vatnajokull area, maybe reykjavik if theres anywhere reasonable near the city. also the wind there sounds genuinely terrifying so any tips on that side too would be great

went last september with my mini 3. the national parks thing is real, most of them are off limits or heavily restricted, iceandic transport authority (Samgongustofa) has a map on their site that shows controlled airspace and the no fly zones. vatnajokull national park is pretty much a no unless you get a permit and from what i read thats a whole process. the south coast outside the park boundaries though was totally fine and honestly the landscapes are insane even just from the ground

wind is no joke btw. i had one afternoon near vik where i just kept it in the bag because it was gusting like crazy and i wasnt going to risk it. just check windguru or windy obsessively and be ready to not fly some days

dont quote me on this but i think the registration thing only kicks in above 250g in most of europe now including iceland? so if you were on a mini you'd probably be fine but the Air 3 is definitely over that. probably worth just emailing the authority directly, ive done that in a couple countries and usually get a response within a few days and at least you have something in writing
