so ive been flying my DJI FPV drone for about a year and a half now and honestly still love it but my buddy just picked up an Avata 2 and after flying it for like 20 minutes i kind of get why people are switching. the manual mode on the FPV still feels way more raw and satisfying to me but the Avata 2 in sport mode is no joke, thing rips through gaps way more confidently than i expected from a cinewhoop style setup

my main gripe with the Avata 2 is the prop guard situation. like yeah safety blah blah but it changes how you think about flying through tight stuff, you're always doing that mental math of adding a few extra inches on each side. with the FPV drone you just kinda go and trust the sticks

anyway not really a question just curious if anyone else has done this comparison hands on, not looking for spec sheet stuff i can read that anywhere

yeah the FPV drone still has a place imo especially if you actually use M mode, the Avata 2 is incredible for what it is but its kind of a different tool. i use mine for cinematic glide shots and the stabilization is genuinely stupid good, but when my mate wants actual acro footage he still grabs the FPV. they're not really competing they just appeal to different use cases

also the goggles 3 compatibility makes the whole ecosystem feel more coherent now which is nice, switching between the two units is less of a headache than it used to be

the prop guards on the Avata 2 arent removable right? or am i wrong about that, i thought someone mentioned aftermarket options but couldnt find anything solid
