gimbal keeps drifting on one axis, not sure if its a calibration thing or something worse

so ive been running a Ronin-S style 3-axis setup under my custom hex for about 8 months now and lately the pitch axis just slowly creeps downward during longer flights, like it'll start perfectly level then after maybe 4-5 minutes the nose of the camera is pointing like 10-15 degrees down. i have to keep trimming it back via the controller which is annoying as hell during a shoot.

ive done the IMU calibration twice this week and the motor calibration once. balanced the payload before every flight (running a Sony a7III which is on the heavier end for this gimbal). ambient temps have been around 8-10 celsius which might be a factor? i dont know if the motors are just getting warm and losing torque or if theres something off with the firmware. last update was like 3 months ago so probably not that.

anyone dealt with this kind of creep before? wondering if i should just swap out the pitch motor or if theres something i'm missing in the setup before i go pulling it apart

had almost the exact same issue with my Gremsy H16 last winter. for me it turned out to be the balance was juuust slightly off ? like the camera was front-heavy by maybe a centimeter and at cold temps the motor couldnt compensate as well as it did in summer. i kept thinking i had it balanced but once i actually used a proper balancing stand instead of just eyeballing it the drift basically went away. worth double checking before you go pulling motors.

also the a7III with a heavier lens on it can really push the limits of some gimbals. what lens are you running?

might be the follow mode settings drifting tbh. some firmware has a deadband setting that if its too loose it'll let the axis walk over time. not sure if thats your exact setup but ive seen it on DJI RS gimbals especially. cold weather def makes it worse in my experience, motors just dont respond the same.
