FAA finally doing something about the remote ID thing?

  • Members

so i was reading through some stuff this morning and apparently enforcement on remote ID is actually starting to pick up, like they're not just letting it slide anymore. been flying my mavic for about two years and honestly just never bothered to set it up properly because nothing ever happened but i'm starting to think maybe i should actually deal with it

anyone else getting more nervous about this or is it still pretty much a non-issue where you guys fly? i'm mostly in suburban areas nothing crazy, no airports nearby or anything like that. just feel like the window where nobody cared is kind of closing

yeah its definitely not as toothless as it used to be. a buddy of mine got approached by local law enforcement a few months back and while nothing came of it they did ask to see his registration info and were asking about remote ID. he wasnt in any restricted zone or anything just bad luck i guess. took me about 20 minutes to actually get mine set up through the DJI app so its probably worth just doing it and not thinking about it anymore honestly

I went through this whole thing a few months ago. The setup itself isn't that bad once you find where it actually is in the settings ? I spent way too long looking for it. The bigger thing nobody talks about is that if you're flying a drone that's too old it might not support broadcast remote ID at all and then you're in a whole other situation with needing an FRIA or a module. Hopefully yours is recent enough that its just a firmware thing.
