okay so ive been watching build videos for like 3 months and finally decided to just do it. going with a 5inch freestyle build, got a iFlight Nazgul frame because it was on sale and seemed solid enough. my problem is im genuinely lost on whether my motor and ESC combo makes sense together.

got some RDQ 2306 2450kv motors and im looking at the Mamba F7 stack. the 45amp ESCs on it should be fine for 5inch on 4s right? or do i need to go 6s and get different motors. i keep reading conflicting stuff. some people say 2450kv on 4s is totally fine for freestyle, others say just go 6s from the start and save yourself the hassle later.

also nobody ever talks about what order to solder things in and i really dont want to fry anything. do i do the ESC first then run wires to the FC or the other way around. feels like a dumb question but i genuinely cant find a clear answer that isnt just someone selling a course

2450kv on 4s is totally fine for freestyle, honestly its kind of the sweet spot. you dont need 6s unless youre doing racing or really aggressive power-hungry stuff. the Mamba 45amp ESCs will handle it no problem, those motors dont pull anywhere near that on 5inch props in normal flying.

for soldering order - do your ESC power leads first (the big wires to the battery connector), then solder the motor wires to the ESC, THEN do all the signal stuff to the FC last. reason being you want the high-current stuff done and inspected before you start cramming the stack together. also tin everything before you join it, makes life so much easier and cleaner joints. get some flux too if you havent already, the difference is night and day.

im basically in the same boat as you lol, just finished my first build last week actually. one thing i learned the hard way is dont skimp on heat shrink and take photos of everything before you stuff it in the frame. i forgot which motor was wired to which ESC output and had to redo like half my work
