Autel Evo Lite+ vs the new stuff coming out ? is it still worth picking up used?

  • Members

been thinking about this for a while now. ive got a budget of maybe 400-450 bucks and the used Autel Evo Lite+ keeps popping up in that range on fb marketplace and some of the secondhand sites. thing is with all the new releases happening lately ? the DJI mini series updates, some of the stuff Autel themselves have been hinting at ? im not sure if grabbing something that came out a couple years ago is smart or if ill just end up wanting to upgrade in six months.

mostly do landscape and some real estate stuff on the side, nothing crazy. the variable aperture on the Lite+ was what caught my eye originally. anyone here actually flying one regularly and what do you think of where it stands now compared to whats on the market. im not loyal to any brand just want the best image quality i can get in that price range without going into debt over a hobby

honestly the Lite+ is still a solid camera for landscapes, that 1/2 inch sensor and the variable aperture genuinely make a difference when your shooting in tricky light. ive had mine for about 18 months and have no real complaints. the app is a bit clunky compared to DJI fly but you get used to it. for real estate work the image quality will more than hold up, clients arent going to know the difference between that and something newer.

the thing to watch out for buying used is battery condition ? autel batteries seem to degrade a bit faster than i'd like and replacements arent the cheapest. id ask the seller for a battery cycle count if they know it, and check that the gimbal hasnt been knocked around

I'd just wait personally. There's been so much coming out or rumored to come out in the next few months that buying used right now feels like bad timing. Even if the new stuff is out of your budget it usually pushes prices down on the previous gen. Patience is free.
