trying to actually get better at manual ? not just hovering around

ok so ive been in acro mode for maybe 3 months now, started on a simulator (liftoff mostly) and then moved to a tiny whoop indoors before getting a real 3inch build together. i can fly around, i can do basic splits and simple dives, but i feel like im kind of stuck in this plateau where im not crashing but im also not actually progressing either. everything feels kind of stiff and safe if that makes sense.

like i know the moves in my head, ive watched a ton of videos, but when im actually flying i default to these wide slow arcs and i never commit to anything. tried doing a power loop last week and just kind of chickened out at the top and made a weird half-loop that looked terrible. not a crash but not the move either.

is this just a time thing or is there something specific people do to push past this? im not sure if i should be doing more sim time or just accepting more crashes as the cost of learning

the plateau thing is real and i think for most people its a confidence problem not a skill problem at that point. you already have the muscle memory from the sim and the whoop time, your brain just doesnt fully trust it yet in a real environment where a crash costs money and walks.

what actually helped me was flying the same spot over and over until it was boring. like pick one tree or one gate and just do laps around it getting progressively tighter and faster until youre bored, then move to the next thing. the power loop thing ? just do it lower than you think you need to at first. commit fully to the throttle punch, its scarier to half-commit than to actually do it. most bailed power loops crash because people back off at the top, not because they gave too much

im kind of in the same boat lol, been at it about 4 months. one thing that helped me weirdly was recording every flight and watching it back. you can see exactly where you bottle it and start going wide, and its kind of embarrassing to watch yourself do it which motivates you to actually commit the next time out. also more crashes honestly, ive broken props like every other session lately but im actually learning stuff now instead of just flying safe laps
