this has been bugging me for a while and i finally need to ask because its starting to stress me out on every flight. basically what happens is the app just drops connection to the aircraft ? not the controller, the controller seems fine ? and i get a black screen for anywhere from 5 seconds to like 30 seconds before it comes back. the drone itself seems to stay in hover mode which is good i guess but i cant see what its doing during that time and honestly that terrifies me.

its not every flight but its been happening enough that i cant ignore it anymore. i think it might be my phone? im on a fairly old android at this point. havent tried a different device yet because i dont really have one handy but thats probably my next step. just wondering if anyone else dealt with this and if there was some fix that wasnt just "buy a new phone"

almost certainly the phone tbh. old androids and DJI Go 4 have had issues forever, especially after certain app updates that pushed the memory requirements higher. the app is kind of a mess on older hardware. if you can borrow someones iphone or a newer android even just to test one flight youll know pretty quick if thats the culprit. also check if you have like 15 other apps running in the background, that made a huge difference for me before i upgraded my device

what drone is this for? because if its one of the older ones that uses Go 4 you might also want to check the USB cable connecting the controller to your phone ? those wear out and a flaky connection can cause exactly what you're describing where the controller stays linked but the video feed drops. ive had that happen twice and both times it was the cable not the phone. cheap fix if thats it. also clearing the app cache on android sometimes helps, go 4 accumulates a ton of junk over time
