DJI's new regs thing coming in June ? anyone actually read through it

so i was scrolling through some aviation news last night and apparently there's a pretty significant update coming from the FAA around remote ID enforcement that's supposed to kick in more seriously mid-year. i've been flying for about 3 years now and honestly i still feel like i only half understand what remote ID even means for me day to day. like i have the module on my mini 3 but i genuinely dont know if i'm fully compliant or if theres something else i should be doing.

also separately, DJI apparently teased something on their socials that people think is a new Air series release? the silhouette looked different from the Air 3 for sure, folding arms at a weird angle. could just be marketing fluff but the drone community went a bit nuts over it. curious if anyone's been keeping closer tabs on this stuff than i have because i feel like i'm always behind on the news cycle with this hobby.

yeah the remote ID thing has been confusing for basically everyone, dont stress too much. if you bought a DJI drone in the last couple years it almost certainly came with or supports remote ID broadcast either built in or via the module. the main thing to know is your drone needs to be broadcasting your registration number and location while flying ? thats the gist of it. the FAA site actually has a decent FAQ on this if you can stomach reading government web pages lol.

as for the new DJI thing, ive seen the same posts. someone on another forum did a pretty detailed frame-by-frame of the teaser and thinks the obstacle avoidance sensors are repositioned compared to the Air 3. if its priced anywhere near the Air 3 launch price i might actually jump on it depending on what they changed with the camera. the Air 3 was already really solid so itd have to be a meaningful upgrade for me to care.

omg i saw that DJI post too and immediately went down a rabbit hole. some people are saying its not even an Air series at all and might be something more in between the Air and Mavic line which would be kinda wild. i'm still pretty new to all this (got my part 107 like 4 months ago) so the regulation stuff is still fresh in my head from studying ? remote ID is basically just so authorities can identify drones in the air without having to physically intercept them. think of it like a license plate but broadcast over wifi/bluetooth. your module should be fine as long as its activated in the DJI app and your registration is in there correctly.
