so ive been flying a self built 5inch with analog for about two years now and honestly im getting kind of tired of rebuilding after crashes and sourcing parts and all that. i know i know the whole point of building is knowing your quad but at this point i just want to fly more and wrench less.

been looking at the iflight nazgul evoque and the diatone roma f5 v2, both have O3 options which is what i want to move to eventually anyway. the price difference between analog and O3 versions is pretty steep though, like we're talking almost double in some cases and i cant figure out if thats just the cost of the air unit or if the frame and stack are actually different between versions.

anyone running one of these prebuilts day to day? curious how the tune is out of the box and whether you actually had to touch the pids much or if it just flies. my self built runs pretty well so i have a reference point at least

had the nazgul evoque f5 v2 O3 for about 8 months, the tune out of the box was honestly better than i expected for a prebuilt. there were some propwash issues on fast direction changes but i dropped the d term a bit and tightened the master multiplier and it cleaned up pretty fast. nothing crazy. the O3 air unit being pre-mounted and wired saves a real amount of time if youre used to fighting those ribbon cables.

the price difference is basically just the air unit cost passed on to you, the stack and frame are the same between versions on that one at least. so if you were going to add O3 yourself anyway you might as well just get the prebuilt with it already done. only gripe i have is the capacitor they use is on the smaller side and i had some voltage noise on punchouts before i swapped it out.

i dont have the evoque but i picked up a diatone roma f5 earlier this year and the tune out of box was... fine? like it flew but it felt a little sluggish to me and the rates were set way conservative. took me maybe an hour in betaflight to get it feeling how i like. nothing wrong with the hardware though, motors seem good and the frame hasnt given me any problems after a few pretty solid hits.

honestly if you're already comfortable in betaflight from building your own it wont feel like a big deal to touch it up. the prebuilt just gets you in the air faster
