DJI Flip thoughts ? anyone actually bought one yet or just watching

  • Members

so the DJI Flip came out and i honestly wasnt sure what to make of it at first. its basically sitting in this weird spot between the Neo and the Mini 4 Pro and i cant quite figure out who its actually for. the folding prop guard thing is cool i guess but it adds weight and i feel like the people who need prop guards are beginners and the people who want a compact foldable already have better options in the lineup.

that said the footage ive seen from it looks really solid for the price point and the automated shot modes seem genuinely improved over older DJI stuff. im not in the market right now since i just got my Air 3 last spring but im curious if anyone here has pulled the trigger on one and what real world flying is like. the promo videos are always perfect conditions and ideal lighting so they dont really tell you much.

I picked one up about two weeks ago mostly out of curiosity and honestly its grown on me more than I expected. The prop guard thing looked gimmicky in the announcement video but in practice it actually makes a difference when youre flying in tighter indoor spaces or around kids. the footage stabilization is really good, probably the smoothest ive seen at this size.

my one complaint is the battery life feels a bit short in real conditions, i was getting like 26-28 minutes when DJI says 31. not a dealbreaker but worth knowing. overall though for someone who wants something they can just toss in a bag without a case i think its a genuinely useful little drone, just depends what you need it for.

seems like DJI just keeps releasing slightly different versions of the same drone every 8 months to be honest. i get why people buy them but at some point the lineup is so confusing that even people who follow this stuff closely cant keep track of whats what. flip, neo, mini 4, air 3, air 3s... its a lot
