gate spacing for a backyard track ? how tight is too tight?

so ive been putting together a small track in my backyard, maybe 40x60 feet total space to work with which i know isnt a lot but its what i got. right now i have 6 gates and 2 flag poles and its honestly pretty fun but im wondering if im spacing them too close together for anyone to actually race on it or if this is fine for practice purposes.
the tightest section i have is probably 8 feet between two gates and it feels sketchy even on my own. running a 5inch on maybe 60% throttle and its still pretty punishing if you clip one. should i just ditch one of the gates and open it up a bit or does tight training actually help in the long run? ive seen some indoor tracks that looked absolutely brutal so maybe im just soft
