EVO Nano+ vs Mini 3 ? worth paying extra for the Autel?

  • Members

So ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks now and i cant make up my mind. I fly mostly on weekends, trails and some beach stuff, nothing crazy. The Mini 3 is obviously the safe pick and everyone and their grandmother has one so theres tons of support and tutorials everywhere.

But i actually held the EVO Nano+ at a local shop and it just felt... better? Like the build quality seemed more solid and the camera specs on paper look real good. Also the whole no geo-fencing thing with Autel is appealing because ive had the DJI app lock me out of spots before that were totally legal to fly.

Anyone here actually gone with the Nano+ and stuck with it? Curious if the software side has caught up because last i heard the app was kind of rough. And how is the obstacle avoidance actually in real use, not just the marketing stuff.

Had the Nano+ for about 8 months before i eventually picked up a Mini 3 and honestly? Both have their place but the Autel app drove me a little crazy at first. It's gotten better with updates but it's still not as polished as DJI Fly. That said the image quality out of the Nano+ genuinely surprised me, especially in good light ? the colors are a bit warmer which i personally like.

The no geo-fencing thing is real and it matters more than people give it credit for. I fly around some industrial areas for work sometimes and not having to mess with unlocking procedures is just... nice. Obstacle avoidance is okay, not great. I wouldnt trust it in heavy tree cover. Just be aware of what youre flying into and you'll be fine.

im in the same boat you were lol. ended up going with the Nano+ about a month ago and so far no regrets but i definitely had to spend some time figuring out the app. there's way less youtube content for it which is annoying when you're trying to learn stuff. but the drone itself flies really nicely and i got some shots at the coast last weekend that looked incredible so
