my rates feel wrong after betaflight 4.4 update, touched nothing

  • Members

so anyway this has been bugging me for a couple weeks now. updated to 4.4.3 and my quad just feels different. sluggish in a weird way on roll, like its not the same stick feel at all. i didnt touch my rates, didnt touch my filters, literally just flashed and restored my diff all saved from before the update.

flying a 5inch on 6s, xing motors, Mamba F405 stack. rates are actual rates not betaflight rates, im using KISS rate mode which i switched to ages ago because someone on here told me it was better and i never looked back.

honestly not sure if this is a rates thing or if something in the pid profile didnt carry over right. it mostly feels like the center stick is mushier than before. does 4.4 change anything with how rates are calculated or is this a filter thing

4.4 changed some defaults around the rpm filter and also i think there were some adjustments to how feedforward works by default. if you restored a diff from an older version some of those new parameters just get set to whatever the new defaults are rather than your old values. i'd compare your current dump all against your saved one line by line, tedious but thats really the only way to catch what changed. the mushy center thing sounds like it could be feedforward transition or maybe dterm setpoint weight if that even still exists in 4.4 i forget

i had almost the exact same feeling after updating, ended up being that my master multiplier had somehow reset to 1.0 from 1.2 or wherever i had it. tiny difference on paper but you really feel it. worth checking before you go down the rabbit hole of comparing entire config dumps lol
