weird flyaway scare with my Mini 3 Pro yesterday, thought i was going to lose it

ok so this has never happened to me before and i've had this drone for about 8 months. was flying out near a reservoir, not super windy on the ground but apparently it was pretty gnarly up at like 80 meters because the thing started drifting and then i hit RTH and it just... kept going the wrong direction for a few seconds before it seemed to figure itself out. GPS signal looked fine the whole time, 14 satellites or something like that. eventually it came home and landed like two meters from where i launched which is totally fine but those few seconds where it was heading toward the water were not fun. anyone else had something like that happen and know what was actually going on? im wondering if it was compass interference or just the wind being weird up there. i had calibrated the compass before i flew too which makes me think it wasnt that but who knows

that sounds stressful honestly. the RTH climb and reorientation phase can look pretty alarming the first time you really notice it, the drone has to gain altitude first then point itself home and if theres a strong crosswind during that transition it can drift a fair bit before the heading lock kicks in properly. 80 meters near water also sometimes has weird localized wind shear going on that you just cant feel from the ground. glad it came back in one piece.

ive had something similiar near a big lake, i think the reflection off the water can mess with the downward vision sensors if you get low enough but at 80m that shouldnt really be it. was your home point set properly before takeoff? sometimes if you arm it and move around a bit the home point doesnt refresh and RTH gets confused about the geometry. i always wait for the green home point confirmed notification before i do anything now after a sketchy moment of my own lol
