our local club fly-in kind of fell apart lol

so we had this thing planned for like two months, maybe 15 people said they were coming, we reserved the field through the parks department and everything. day of, it rains a little in the morning, clears up totally by noon, and like 4 people show up. honestly a bit deflating after all the organizing. not sure if its worth trying to do another one or just let the group die. anyone else had this happen with their local group or is it just us

yeah this is super common unfortunately, people commit online and then just dont show. what worked for our group was doing smaller more frequent meetups instead of one big event, like just a casual sunday morning thing every few weeks with no pressure. turnout is way more consistent when the stakes feel lower i guess

four people isnt nothing though, we had our first meetup with literally three guys and two of them were my cousins haha. keep going with it, the core group that does show is usually the one worth flying with anyway
