Been flying Walksnail Avatar system for 8 months with stock patch antennas on Goggles X. Range maxes out around 6km even at full power (1200mW), while my old analog setup with AOMWAY 200mW + aftermarket patch easily hit 10km.

Considering TrueRC X-Air or Singularity upgrades - but at ?80+ per antenna, want to make sure the investment is justified. The Walksnail system uses bidirectional communication unlike analog, so antenna selection seems more critical.

Has anyone done proper range testing comparing stock vs premium antennas on digital systems? Looking for real-world numbers, not just "feels better" feedback.

Upgraded to TrueRC X-Air on my Goggles X and saw immediate improvement in penetration and multipath rejection. Range increased from ~4km to 7km in my typical flying environment with same VTX power. The difference is most noticeable in challenging RF environments.

Stock antennas are honestly fine for most use cases. Unless you're doing serious long-range work, that ?160 could be better spent elsewhere in your setup. The stock ones aren't the bottleneck for typical freestyle flying.

Remember that with Walksnail, only the top-left antenna on Goggles X handles TX/RX for the control link. If you're upgrading, prioritize that position first - the diversity antennas are RX only. This isn't obvious from the documentation.
