so i was just reading through some of the FAA updates and it looks like there's more remote ID enforcement stuff coming and honestly i dont fully understand what it means for guys like me who just fly recreationally on weekends. i have a mini 3 pro and i bought it after the cutoff date so i think im fine but then my buddy was saying something about needing to register flight areas or something and now im second guessing everything.

has anyone actually sat down and read through the full document because its like 80 pages and i gave up halfway. just want to know if im going to get hassled at my usual spot by the river which is technically uncontrolled airspace below 400ft. i fly safe, always check b4ufly, never near airports. feel like the rules keep changing faster than i can keep up with

okay so the remote ID thing ? if your mini 3 pro is from DJI and you bought it in the last couple years it already has broadcast remote ID built in, so youre basically sorted on that front. the thing your buddy might be confusing is the FRIA zones which are fixed sites that community organizations can apply for so their members dont need remote ID, but thats more for clubs flying older gear without the module.

the river spot sounds fine honestly as long as its not in any controlled airspace and you're under 400. i'd just double check airmap or aloft before you go, takes two minutes. the enforcement stuff is real but they're mostly going after people doing obviously dumb things near airports or stadiums, not a dude flying a mini by a river on a saturday morning.

same boat as you, I went down a rabbit hole last week trying to figure all this out and yeah its a lot. i ended up just calling my local FSDO which i know sounds intimidating but the guy i talked to was actually pretty chill and cleared up most of my questions in like 10 minutes. might be worth a shot if you want a straight answer instead of trying to parse FAA legal language at midnight lol
