been seeing a lot of coverage of the DJI Neo lately and im genuinely not sure what to make of it. like on one hand its super lightweight and the whole no-controller thing where it follows you around is kind of wild for the price point. on the other hand it feels like they really stripped it down to the point where i wonder who its actually for.

i already have an air 3 so im not in the market but my sister wants to get into drones mostly for travel and hiking content and i kind of steered her toward the mini 4 pro but now im second guessing that. the Neo is cheaper but the image quality comparisons ive seen look noticeably softer and the wind resistance is basically nonexistent from what people are saying. she's going to be in places like patagonia and iceland so that might actually matter a lot. anyway just curious if anyone has spent real time with the Neo or is it mostly a gimmick for the vlogging crowd

for patagonia id absolutely not recommend the Neo, that place is notorious for insane wind and that little thing would be fighting for its life. the mini 4 pro was the right call imo. the Neo is genuinely fun but its kind of carved out this niche for calm-day selfie content and social media stuff where you just want something that fits in a jacket pocket and can track you on a trail. the image is fine for instagram but side by side with the mini 4 pro its not close.

i picked one up actually, mostly out of curiosity and because i already have a mavic 3 for serious stuff. its a genuinely impressive little thing for what it is but yeah the wind thing is real, anything above like 15mph and it starts drifting and the footage gets shaky. great for calm morning shots at the beach or followng you on a bike path but thats kind of where it ends. for your sister doing travel in rugged places the mini 4 pro is the obvious answer, dont overthink it
