so im heading to vietnam for 3 weeks, got my mavic 3 classic and really want to bring it but ive been reading some conflicting stuff about the rules there. some sites say you need to register, some say just dont fly near cities, some say dont bother at all. anyone actually been there recently and flown? i dont want to get my drone confiscated at the airport or something stupid like that

went to hanoi and hoi an last year with my mini 3. customs didnt even look twice at it, just had it in my carry on in its little bag. the rules are technically a mess over there, theres some civil aviation authority registration thing but honestly most travelers just dont bother and nothing happens. i stayed away from military areas obviously and didnt fly in the old town of hoi an because theres drones everywhere and the locals are clearly used to it but you still feel watched. halong bay was incredible by the way, got shots i still cant believe are real

just dont fly near the border areas or anything that looks remotely government-ish and you'll probably be fine. heard a few stories of people getting hassled in ho chi minh city specifically. rural spots are generally chill from what ive seen on youtube trip reports
