ok so ive been trying to figure this out for like two weeks and im still not 100% clear on it. i fly a mini 3 pro and i live like 4 miles from a regional airport. the DJI fly app shows the area as yellow which i think means i need authorization but im not sure if i just use LAANC through aloft or if theres some other process. i submitted something through aloft a few days ago and it said approved instantly but then someone on reddit told me LAANC doesnt apply to all airports and i might still technically be in violation?? the airspace around here is class D i think. anyway i just want to know if the LAANC approval i got is actually legit or if i need to do something else on top of that

LAANC and getting authorization arent the same thing exactly but LAANC is basically the fast-track way to GET that authorization so if aloft approved you, youre good for that specific area and altitude ceiling. class D is covered under LAANC at most airports that participate in the program. the thing is not every airport has it enabled ? smaller private strips or some military adjacent stuff wont show up. if your approval came back instantly with a green confirmation and you stayed within the altitude they approved you for, you flew legally. just screenshot or save that authorization because technically youre supposed to have it available if anyone asks.

same thing confused me when i started. i think the yellow in the DJI app is just their own geofencing thing and its separate from actual FAA rules which is a bit annoying. like DJI might block you or warn you even if youre technically fine, or the other way around. i just use the FAA's own DroneZone site or the B4UFLY app to double check because i dont fully trust the DJI app to be up to date on everything
