DJI Neo vs the new Autel Nano Ultra ? anyone actually flown both

  • Members

been seeing a lot of hype about both of these lately and im trying to figure out which one makes more sense for travel shooting. i do a lot of hiking and backpacking so weight is a real thing for me, not just a spec sheet number. the Neo is obviously lighter but i keep hearing the Autel has better color science out of the box which matters to me because i really hate spending hours grading footage that looked garbage raw.

the price difference isnt massive right now with the current promos so thats not really the deciding factor. more just curious if anyone has real world time with either of these and not just unboxing impressions. youtube reviews are all over the place and half of them feel like sponsored content anyway so. yeah. any thoughts appreciated

had the Neo for about two months now and taken it on a few trail runs. its genuinely tiny and fits in a jacket pocket which is wild for what it can do. wind handling is honestly where it starts to struggle a bit, anything over like 15mph and you can see it in the footage especially if youre trying to hold a static shot. color wise ive been pretty happy shooting in the log profile but it does take some work in post. havent used the Autel so cant compare directly but from what ive seen the Nano Ultra footage does look a bit warmer and more usable straight out of the box

i'll be the guy who says just wait a few more weeks because DJI almost always has something coming and right now the rumor mill is pretty loud about a Neo 2 or whatever they end up calling it. could be nothing but the timing feels off for buying the current version at full price. Autel on the other hand doesnt really do the same rapid release cycle so if the Nano Ultra checks your boxes it probably wont be outdated in 6 months
