so i was reading through some stuff this morning and came across an article about the FAA possibly revisiting some of the remote ID enforcement timelines and i honestly dont know what to make of it. like are they actually going to crack down harder or is this just more of the same vague language that never really translates into anything on the ground

ive been flying for about three years now and i did get my part 107 back in 2021 and i have a remote ID module on my mavic but i see people at the park all the time flying with no module, no nothing, and nobody cares. so either enforcement is basically nonexistent or im just not in an area where they bother. anyone been following this more closely than me? feels like every few months theres a new headline and then nothing actually changes

yeah the enforcement thing is real hit or miss depending on where you are. i fly in the midwest mostly and ive literally never seen anyone get approached by law enforcement over remote ID. that said i wouldnt get complacent about it because the rules are the rules and if they do start actually enforcing i dont want to be the example they make. i did see something on the FAA site a few weeks ago about them updating some of the FRIA zone application stuff, might be related to what youre reading about

im new to all this and honestly remote ID is one of the things that confused me the most when i was getting started. my instructor mentioned it briefly but kind of glossed over it. do you actually need the physical module or is broadcast RID through the app enough for recreational flying? i feel like i read different answers every time i search for it
