so ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks now and i cant decide. i have the DJI fly more combo so theres already a lot of stuff to pack ? extra batteries, the RC2, charging hub, a few ND filters i picked up. the official DJI hard case looks nice but honestly it feels overpriced for what it is and i read somewhere the foam cutouts dont fit the charging hub properly which would be super annoying.

been looking at the Torvol Quad Pitstop and some random ones on amazon but the amazon ones feel like a gamble. does anyone actually travel with their setup checked in luggage or do you always carry on? i know batteries are supposed to be carry on only but i wasnt sure if thats strictly enforced everywhere or just like a guideline kind of thing.

anyway just curious what people are actually using day to day not looking for the "best" answer just real world stuff

i went through like three cases before landing on the Pelican 1510 with custom cut foam and honestly its the only thing i wish i did from the start. yeah you have to cut the foam yourself or order a custom insert from etsy (there are sellers who do exact cutouts for the mini 4 setup) but once its done it feels like your gear is actually protected and not just sitting in some generic shaped tray.

and yeah batteries are definitely carry on only, thats an FAA rule not just a suggestion, most airlines will stop you at the gate if they catch them in checked bags. i got flagged once years ago and it was a whole thing. not worth the risk honestly just stuff them in your personal item or backpack.

I use one of the Surge messenger-style bags, not technically a hard case but it fits everything and doesnt look like a drone bag which i kind of like when traveling. the Torvol one you mentioned is also supposed to be good, seen a lot of people in the fpv community use it. probably overkill for a mini 4 but if you have a lot of accessories it might make sense.
