DJI's new regs stuff ? anyone actually read through all of it

so i was poking around the FAA site last night because i saw someone mention something about remote ID enforcement ramping up and honestly i went down a rabbit hole for like two hours. theres a lot of conflicting info out there depending on where you look and im not sure what actually applies to recreational flyers vs commercial at this point.

also saw the news about DJI supposedly dropping a new mid-range bird sometime this quarter, something between the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3 in terms of pricing if the leaks are accurate. cant find a solid source on it though, most of what ive seen is just reposts of reposts.

anyway curious if anyone here has been keeping up with the remote ID stuff specifically ? like are you all actually running the modules or relying on broadcast from the aircraft itself? i have an older mavic that doesnt have it built in and i keep putting off dealing with it

yeah the remote ID enforcement thing is real, they've been sending warning letters in some areas. for older birds without broadcast RID built in you technically need one of the add-on modules ? Dronetag and a couple others make them. i got the Dronetag Mini and velcroed it to my Mavic 2 Pro, works fine. it's annoying but honestly not a big deal once you just do it.

as for the DJI leak, i saw that too. someone on another forum was saying it might be positioned as an Air 3S or something like that but who knows, DJI naming conventions make no sense anymore anyway

wait so if my Mini 3 already has remote ID built in i dont need to do anything extra right? i thought newer drones just handle this automatically and i never really looked into it further than that. kinda freaking out a little now lol
