so ive been messing with hyperlapse mode on my Air 3 for the past few weeks and honestly im getting inconsistent results. sometimes it looks incredible and other times theres this weird flickering that i cant seem to get rid of. i think its an exposure thing but im not totally sure.

for context im usually shooting in the early evening, maybe an hour or so before golden hour, so the light is still pretty bright but changing. im using circle mode mostly. ND filters on ? currently have the 64 on ? and i set the shutter manually but maybe im doing something wrong with interval settings? ive tried 2 seconds and 3 seconds and honestly cant tell the difference in the final output.

just curious what settings other people are actually running in the real world, not the tutorial stuff. like what interval, what ND, do you let it handle exposure or lock it manually. anything helps

the flickering is almost definitely exposure hunting between frames. you need to lock your ISO and shutter before you start the hyperlapse ? go into the camera settings while youre in hyperlapse mode and switch to full manual. the drone will still try to auto-adjust if you leave anything on auto and thats where you get that pulsing look especially when clouds or shadows are moving through the frame.

for a bright evening shoot id probably go ND64 with shutter at 1/100 or so and ISO as low as it'll go. interval i tend to use 3 seconds for most things, 2 feels a little rushed unless youre doing something with fast moving clouds. the circle mode is also a bit twitchy on the Air 3 depending on radius size ? if you set the radius too small it moves too fast and nothing looks smooth. try going bigger than you think you need.

oh man i had the exact same problem when i first started. took me forever to figure out the exposure lock thing. also worth checking if youre shooting in a format that lets you edit it later ? i was doing jpeg for ages and then switched to raw sequence and it made a huge difference just being able to tweak each frame before compiling. bit more work but worth it
