DJI vs Autel ? tired of seeing the same answer everywhere

  • Members

ok so every time this comes up on reddit or youtube the answer is always just "get DJI" and i get it, they dominate the market, support is better, more accessories etc. but im genuinely curious if anyone here has actually flown both for real work or just serious hobby use and can give me a comparison that isnt just repeating the same talking points

context ? im considering the Autel EVO Lite+ because a friend is selling his and the price is really good. i already have a mavic air 2 which i love but im thinking about picking this up as a backup or to try something different. the main thing i keep reading is that Autel colors are warmer out of camera which sounds nice but also that their app has historically been a bit rough

has that gotten better? the app thing. because thats honestly my biggest concern, i dont mind learning a new system but if it crashes or loses connection randomly thats a dealbreaker for paid work

had an EVO 2 for about a year and a half before switching back to DJI and honestly the camera was genuinely impressive, no complaints there. but the app ? yeah it was frustrating. not crash-your-drone bad but just clunky in ways that annoyed me constantly. havent used the newer versions so maybe its improved, cant say for sure

for paid work i just wouldnt risk it personally, too much of the ecosystem around DJI (waypoints, third party apps, tutorials when something goes wrong) makes life easier. as a second drone for messing around though your friends price might make it worth the tradeoff

the warm colors thing is slightly overstated imo, you can get similar results in post from either. people talk about it like its some magic but its just a different default profile. if youre shooting raw it barely matters anyway
