not sure if this is a firmware thing or a LUT thing or what but since i updated to the latest version (i think it was.0700 or whatever came out like 3 weeks ago) im seeing this really subtle banding in my D-Log M footage especially in skies with gradients. it wasnt there before, like ive got footage from the same location two weeks before the update and its clean.

ive tried rolling back my LUTs and grading from scratch in Resolve and still seeing it. also tried a different editing machine thinking it was a display calibration thing but nope, export it and its still there. its not terrible but its the kind of thing you notice once you see it and then you cant unsee it.

has anyone else seen this or am i just going crazy. wondering if i should roll back firmware but i cant remember if the Air 3 even lets you do that easily

yeah you can rollback on the Air 3, you just pull the older firmware bin file from DJI's site and load it through the assistant app on desktop. its a little annoying but not complicated. that said i havent personally seen the banding issue you're describing ? what bitrate are you shooting at? if youre on 4K 60 and dropping below the max bitrate setting for some reason that could cause it but thats kind of a stretch

also worth checking if the issue shows up in the HEVC vs H.264 files differently, sometimes thats where weird compression stuff hides

this is probably gonna sound dismissive and im sorry but are you sure its not just the D-Log M profile doing what it does in high contrast sky situations? i ask because i had a similar freakout a while back and it turned out i was just pushing the grade too hard in the highlights and the banding was always kind of there in the log footage, the previous grade was just hiding it better. try pulling the footage into resolve with no grade at all and see if the banding is visible in the raw log. if it is then yeah thats either a sensor or firmware issue. if its not showing up ungraded then its probably your grade or the LUT interaction
