so i got my mini 4 pro about 3 weeks ago and ive been practicing hovering in my backyard and also tried inside my garage with the door closed. outdoors its fine mostly but inside it just drifts around slowly like it cant make up its mind where it wants to be. i have to keep correcting it with the sticks constantly which makes getting smooth footage basically impossible.

is this a sensor thing or did i do something wrong during calibration? i did the IMU calibration once when i first got it. not sure if i need to redo it or if this is just how it works without GPS. my friend has a mini 2 and says his doesnt do this but maybe hes just not noticing it

yeah this is totally expected indoors, the mini 4 pro like most drones switches to ATTI mode or relies on vision positioning when GPS isnt available. inside your garage the lighting might be bad or the floor texture isnt giving the downward vision sensors enough to lock onto. plain concrete floors are actually pretty bad for vision positioning, the sensors need contrast and pattern to track properly.

try putting a large printed tarp or even just a busy patterned rug under it and see if the drift improves. also make sure the bottom sensors arent dirty, a tiny smudge makes a big difference. the mini 2 comparison probably doesnt mean much since your friend might not have noticed or tested it the same way you are.

had the exact same issue when i first started flying mine inside. took me way too long to realize my garage floor is just one solid grey color and the drone basically has nothing to look at. moved to flying over a tiled kitchen floor and it was like a completely different drone, held position way better. still not perfect but manageable.
