Air 2S movement issues - losing side to side control randomly?

I've been having this strange issue with my Air 2S where it suddenly becomes unresponsive to left/right stick input during flight. It still responds to forward/back, but won't move sideways at all. The weird part is if I switch flight modes and switch back, it starts working again.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm getting nervous about flying it over water now. Sometimes it also gets sluggish and struggles to maintain altitude.
