so ive been flying recreationally for about two years now and my buddy keeps telling me to just get part 107 so i can do some paid gigs on the side. mostly real estate stuff, maybe some construction site work if i can get in with a contractor i know. anyway i looked at the test and honestly it looks pretty intimidating, all the airspace stuff and weather and whatever. i took the practice tests on one site and got like a 62% which i know is not passing. is this thing actually hard or am i overthinking it. how long did people spend studying before they felt ready

honestly it took me about 3 weeks of studying maybe an hour a day and i passed with an 85. the airspace stuff looks scary at first but once it clicks it really clicks, like sectional charts just take some time to stare at. the weather section was the part i kept getting wrong on practice tests. there's a free course on youtube from pilot institute that covers everything, i basically just watched that and did practice tests on dauntless aviation until i was consistently hitting 80+ and then i just went and took it. the test itself felt pretty similar to the practice questions so dont stress too much

its not that bad but the airspace stuff tripped me up more than i expected. i thought i knew it and then the actual exam had these weird edge case questions about class D and temporary flight restrictions that i wasnt totally prepared for. passed on the first try but only got a 72 so i was sweating a little. definitely dont skip the METAR and weather sections even if they seem boring, they put a lot of those on there
