finally pulled the trigger on an EVO II Pro ? some thoughts after a few weeks

  • Members

so ive been debating between the EVO II Pro and a few other options for probably six months now and i just kept going back and forth. ended up getting the 6k version a few weeks ago and figured id share some stuff for anyone else who was on the fence like i was.

first thing that got me was the obstacle avoidance is actually pretty solid. i was flying around some trees near a park last weekend and it pulled back a couple times when i wasnt expecting it. honestly startled me the first time but then i appreciated it. the image quality out of the MFT sensor is really really good, like better than i expected coming from a Mavic Air 2. colors feel a bit more natural to me right out of camera without having to do a ton in post.

only thing thats been bugging me is the app. the Autel Sky app is fine but its definitely not as polished as DJI Go or whatever. had one moment where it just kind of froze on me for a second during a mapping mission and i had to restart it. drone kept flying fine it was just the app being weird. anyone else dealt with that or have a workaround?

yeah the app thing is a known annoyance with the EVO II, you're not alone. i usually just make sure to close out everything running in the background on my phone before launching it, seems to help at least a little. also heard some people have better luck with specific android phones vs iPhones but i havent tested that myself.

for what its worth ive had mine for almost a year now and the app has gotten better with updates, not perfect but better. the actual flight performance and image quality more than make up for it imo. what kind of work are you doing with it mostly?
