finally upgraded from my old phantom 4 and have some thoughts

ok so i held onto my phantom 4 pro v2 for way longer than most people probably would have. it still worked fine, the image quality is still decent, and honestly i just didnt see a reason to spend money on something new. but i finally cracked and got the mavic 3 classic a few months back and i have some feelings about it.

the good stuff first ? the portability is obviously a massive change, going from carrying that phantom case everywhere to just tossing the mavic in a small bag is kind of life changing for spontaneous flying. hasselblad color science thing, whatever you think about that marketing, the files do look really nice out of camera and the highlight rolloff in particular seems better than what i was getting from the phantom.

the thing that took adjusting was the size honestly. the phantom felt solid and planted in wind in a way the mavic just doesnt, or at least doesnt feel like it does even if the specs say its fine. and i miss having the dedicated controller with the built in screen, the rc2 is good but its different.

anyway just thought id share since i feel like theres not many people coming from older dji prosumer stuff talking about the transition. its a good drone, im happy with it, but it wasnt a no-brainer upgrade the way some people made it sound.

the wind thing is real and i dont think people talk about it enough. smaller drones do move around more in gusty conditions even when they hold position ok ? theres a kind of micro-jitter that the larger platforms just dont have. my inspire footage in moderate wind looks smoother than my mavic footage in the same conditions even though the mavic is technically holding position within a few centimeters. some of it you can fix in post but its not nothing.

glad the transition worked out for you though. the phantom 4 pro v2 was genuinely a great camera drone and i think people forget that because it got overshadowed by the mavic line. the files from that camera still hold up.

this is helpful actually becuase ive been eyeing the mavic 3 classic and coming from a phantom 4 (not the pro, just the regular one) im worried itll feel like a downgrade somehow even though i know on paper its not. the screen thing you mentioned about the rc2 ? is that the controller with the built in screen or the one without? i always get confused with djis naming
