okay this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a settings thing or something wrong with my unit. flying out over open water, pretty much no interference, and im getting signal warnings and sometimes brief disconnects at like 800-900 meters. ive seen people say they get 3-4km no problem with the air 2s on o3 and i cant even get to a km consistently.

im in the US so the transmission power should be fine. controller antennas are pointed correctly i think, the flat part facing the drone. phone is a pixel 6 if that matters. it was doing this pretty much from the start so its not like something changed. started wondering if i got a bad unit or if theres something dumb im missing in the settings.

the pixel 6 wifi and bluetooth can sometimes interfere more than other phones, ive seen a few posts about this. first thing id try is turning off wifi on your phone while flying, like actually disable it not just disconnect from a network. background apps scanning for networks can cause interference with the ocusync signal through the cable connection. also check if you have any 5.8ghz stuff cranking nearby where youre launching because that band can get messy depending on location. probably not the issue over open water but worth ruling out.

if none of that helps it might genuinely be a hardware issue, the antennas on some units have been reported to be slightly dodgy. dji support is actually not terrible if you have your purchase info handy.

check your transmission power setting in dji fly, there should be an option under safety or remote controller settings. sometimes it defaults to a lower setting depending on region detection and it doesnt always auto-set correctly even in the US. mine was set to like CE mode somehow even though i bought it stateside, switching to FCC mode made a huge differnece. its worth checking before you do anything else honestly.
